Sizes outside of this range are possible, but this will affect the fire rating of the door set.
Minimum width for a fire door leaf is governed by the need to fit a compliant closer. Typically, 400 mm is the practical minimum.
Wall Types
Installation of the fire-rated Armashield-FR requires a fully grouted steel frame in a masonry or precast concrete wall of the appropriate fire rating.
Leaf Facings
All steel leaf with attack face in 6mm steel. Non attack (inside) face is a removable light gauge steel panel (rivet fixed as standard).

Notes:
Please note that the height and width of the vision panel must still fall within the maximum glazed area.
This glazing is fire glazing, not security glazing. For apertures more than 200 mm wide we recommend steel bars for security
Blast, Attack and Ballistic ratings may be affected if the door has a vision panel.
Mass of door leaf not to exceed 44 kg / hinge
The standard glazing system provides a flush attack face and steel beading with fixings on the “non-attack” face. The system is adaptable to various thicknesses of security glazing according to requirements.

A version of the Armashield-FR is available tested to R2 rating.
Security Testing
A hinged Armashield-FR door set with Surelock McGill D4 three point locking was subjected to a Level 4 attack according to AS3555-1988 "Building Elements - Testing and Rating for Intruder Resistance".
Two men attacked the door set with common hand & power tools and succeeded in removing the door leaf from its frame (thus forming an opening in the door set) after 27 minutes 30 seconds.
Ballistic Testing
The standard Armashield-FR door set has been successfully tested to AS/NZS 2343:1997 “Bullet resistant panels and elements” with ratings of:
G2 .44 Magnum
S0 Shotgun 12 gauge 32g SG shot
A version of the Armashield-FR is available tested to R2 rating.
Ballistic rated door sets require either a fully-grouted frame installation to masonry or concrete walls, or else ballistic protection built into the frame during manufacture. Matching Ballistic Wall Panels are described in a separate section.
Thermal Insulation
This door leaf has a thermal insulation rating (R-value) of 0.029 Km2/W.
The fire-rated Armashield-FR door set may be fitted with a range of security hardware:
- locksets with steel or brass latching components for FRR -/60/- - locksets with only steel latching components for FRR -/120/- - any closers, pull handles and minor items of hardware provided they are non-combustible and fixed with steel fasteners.
Note that fitting of deadlocks and other non-self-latching hardware will make the door set non-compliant in respect to the standard NZS 4520 Fire-resistant door sets.
